One day, one of his broker friends organized a poker game, and the winner of the event would get a buy-in for the $10,000 WSOP 2012 Main Event.

Frankenberger threw his hat into the ring and, when the dust settled, it was the only one left without a head to put it on. Frankenberger took his first prize, experienced the top end of poker for the first time in his life and he liked it – a lot.

Poker players all experienced their own heaters, but Frankenberger’s was searing, and most importantly, immediate.

He won $162,110 in the 2010 Venetian Deepstack and then, two months later, captured a World Poker Tour (WPT) title in Los Angeles for $750,000.

Two months on, and Frankenberger was seated at his second WPT final table, this time finishing 5th for $161,200. Then in the summer of 2011, Frankenberger won a WSOP bracelet and $599,153, when he defeated Josh Evans to win the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event.

He was crowned the 2010 WPT Player of the Year and, lo and behold, he found himself playing heads-up against the great Phil Ivey in this year’s $10,000 Pot-Limit Hold’em event, where he beat the great man to take down his second WSOP gold bracelet and a further $445,899 in prize-money.
